The Insular Electric Vehicle Charging Network of Gran Canaria is a unique insular public charging development project in Spain. Adjudicated the project by the Cabildo through tender in 2018, Etecnic was the company in charge of planning, developing and executing the project to install more than 20 charging points distributed throughout the island (with the help of local engineering company Arlangton).
In a second phase of the public tender, EVcharge was assigned the management and maintenance of the network with the development of a customized software (based on EVcharge) and a white label app for users to use the network in a simple and agile way.
“Movilidad Eléctrica Gran Canaria” is an application that is available for IOS and Android. Once downloaded, the user can registre an account for free in order to use the network. It is a very complete tailor-made application since, in addition to being able to check the availability of recharging points, reserve them, recharge and pay, the same application has relevant information in each location regarding the natural environment in which it is located.
The Energy Council of Gran Canaria also has a website where you can consult relevant information such as the type of these charging stations in each location, rates, assistance relevance telephone numbers such as the 24h/7d telephone assistance, etc…
Adrián Gutiérrez, the engineer in charge of developing the project, tells us about the most outstanding aspects of the app in this video:
